Mrs. John Hicks, 81, known to her relatives and friends as "Aunt Ollie", and one of the county's most beloved mothers, passed away here sunday. Funeral services were held at the Comanche Funeral Home Monday at 4 o'clock with the Rev. J. D. Smoot, Methodist minister officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Grandsons: Bobby Gene Hicks, Ed Hicks, Neal Greenlee, Wade Butler, Ardell Hicks, and Edgar Hughes.
Mrs. Hicks, who was Ollie Carter before her marriage, was born in Milam County, Texas, December 21, 1865, and moved to Comanche with her parents when she was a child. She was married to John Hicks 63 years ago. They spent practically their married life in this county. Mr. Hicks passed away here in 1942.
Children surviving are Curby Hicks, Lonnie Hicks, Neely Hicks, Mrs. Jack Cuthbertson, and Mrs. Roy Spivey, all of Comanche; Mrs. Joe Allen of Haskell, and Mrs. Ernest Hughes of O'Brien, all of whom were present for the funeral.
Mrs. Hicks was converted at the age of 25 and united with the Baptist Church.
