A native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, she retired from St. Frances Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was a medical secretary. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church of Shelby, and a former member of Lee Road Baptist Church in Taylors, South Carolina.
Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her parents John Carol Cox & Minnie Bagwell Cox, her husband Edward "Ed" Hoyle Ayers, a son-in-law Ronald Wesley Ward, and five brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Ayers is survived by a son and his wife Roger Edward Ayers & Paula of Fort Smith, Ark., a daughter Wanda Ayers Ward of Shelby, grandchildren Lisa Ward Hill & husband Aundre, William Wesley Ward & wife Julie, Rebecca Ward Bostic & husand Jamie, Matthew Ayers & Timothy Ayers. In addition to these she is also survived by great grandchildren Brittany & Wesley Hill, Dottie Bostic, Owen Ward, Abbey Garrell and Cadien Dixon and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Cleveland County and her caregivers, Lisa Hill, Margie Campbell, Michelle Orders, Brittany Hill, Wanda Cooper & Becky Bostic.
Funeral services will be conducted by Drs. Eric Davis & Ervin Price.
