Nova attended school at Lexington. She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Workman on June 12, 1951 at Lexington. Richard preceded her in death on November 1, 1990. She then found love again and was united in marriage to Richard W. Barmore on May 1, 2004 at Lexington. He too preceded her in death on September 3, 2007.

Nova was always a hard worker and a wonderful community minded person. She worked at Monroe Auto in Cozad, Nebraska; owned and operated Workman's Residential Care Facility, the Southside Market and Green Valley Motel. She was the activities assistant at Plum Creek Care Center for several years and even made bathing suits for the Miss America Pageant.

She attended Lexington Christian Church, was a member of the Tri-County Hospital Auxiliary, Lexington Chamber of Commerce Diplomats, and the Lexington Soroptimist Club.
