Alwin Altendorf was born on July 15, 1919, in Acton, ND. He married Irene Sevigny November 24, 1943. They lived in Grafton, ND; Tower City; and they moved to Mesa, AZ in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Signal Corps. His career was a mixture of farming, accounting, and motel ownership.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; five daughters, one son; and one brother, Harry of Grand Forks, ND. The children are Sharon from Fargo, ND; Gary, St. Paul, MN; Rose Rosenberg, Yonkers, NY; Carol Horine; Norma Iwan, and Helen Votava, all in Mesa, AZ. Thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael, Bryan and David Altendorf; and Chris Iwan, Tom Votava and Dan Rosenberg, all grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Suzanne Hanson and Rebecca Altendorf; Jill Alo, Heather Votava-Bialczyk, Angela Karnoupakis; and Kathryn Powell.
