Richard Tuttle was born about 1593 (aged 42 on 6 April 1635), son of Simon Tuttle of Ringstead, Northamptonshire. A husbandman, he came to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 on the Planter (on 6 April 1635, "husbandman Richard Tuttell," aged 42, "Ann Tuttell," aged 41, "Anna Tuttell," aged 12, "Jo[hn] Tuttell," aged 10, "Rabecca Tuttell," aged 6, and "Isbell Tuttell," aged 70, were enrolled at London as passengers for New England on the Planter).
He & his family settled in Boston MA. He died at Boston 8 May 1640.
He married at Barnwell St. Andrew, Northamptonshire, 19 June 1622 Anne Taylor. She married (2) by 8 September 1648 EDWARD HOLYOKE.
Richard Tuttle was son of ISABEL TUTTLE {1635, Unknown} and brother of JOHN TUTTLE {1635, Ipswich} and of WILLIAM TUTTLE {1635, Charlestown}.
In 1952 Donald Lines Jacobus prepared a brief pedigree of the Tuttle family in England, placing the immigrants Richard and William as sons of Simon Tuttle, and John as son of Simon's brother Thomas. In 1978 David L. Greene published transcripts of the wills of Simon Tuttle and his father-in-law, which demonstrated conclusively that all three immigrants (Richard, John and William) were sons of Simon. In 1983 Douglas Richardson published additional biographical information for Simon Tuttle. For citations, see Anderson's Great Migration.
