A native of Oconee County, he served as mayor of Watkinsville for 1'7 years. Prior to entering the real estate business in Athens, Mr. Butler was vice-president of City Motors here from 1935-45. He was a veteran of World War I, and a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He also attended Purdue University.and the University ofIndiana.
Graveside services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Watkinsville Cemetery with the Revs. Grady Wigley and W.E. Cochran officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Ashford Butler of Watkinsville; a daughter, Diana B. Terry, Athens; a
brother, Jacob Butler, Kansas City, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
