SOUTH OGDEN – Jane Moss Hatch Chambers passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 of natural causes, surrounded by her family. She was born on the 5th of September, 1921, the daughter of Robert Alvin and Afton Eldredge Moss, in Salt Lake City. She was raised in Bountiful and attended Davis County Schools. Jane graduated from Utah State University, where she was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority.

She was blessed with two loving husbands. She married James Willard "Bill" Hatch in 1946. He was a Vice President and Division Manager at First Security Bank and they made their home in Ogden. He died in 1984. Later in 1989, she married John "Jack" West Chambers. Jack was a Federal Appeals Court Judge and they lived in Falls Church, Virginia until his death in 2000.

Jane was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she served as Cub Scout leader, Den Mother, in Mutual, and in the Primary.

Jane was a founding member and past president of the Chareya Service Club, also past president and member of Questers Antique Club. She was a member of the Golden Spike Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as Chapter Regent and later served as a state officer. She was also a member of the Falls Church Virginia Chapter of the D.A.R.

She volunteered as a Pink Lady at the Dee and McKay-Dee Hospitals for over 25 years. She also volunteered at a deaf pre-school.

Jane and her family hosted many AFS and Rotary foreign exchange students over the years and she was able to later visit with some of them during her world travels.

She is survived by her four children, James R. (Joanne) Hatch, Ogden; Suzanne Hatch (James) Holt, Gresham, OR; Thomas M. Hatch, and Steven W. Hatch, both of Clarkson, UT; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Moss (Gerald) Hatch, Ogden; and brother Robert E. (Cleo) Moss, Bountiful.

The family would like to express their thanks to Access Hospice and the staff at Mountain Ridge Care Center for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 26 at 11 a.m. at the Waterfall Canyon Ward Chapel, 3254 Polk Avenue, Ogden.

Family will greet friends at the Ward Chapel on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Logan City Cemetery.

Jane loved animals and her family enjoyed a diverse array of pets. She was seldom seen without a small dog at her side. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to an area animal shelter.
