Romey V. Hysler, 51, Van Buren, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, in his home. He was a Vietnam veteran and an auto mechanic. He was a Baptist. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston. He is survived by a daughter, Valecia Hysler; a son, Eric Hysler; and a brother, James Richard Bacon, Van Buren.

Romey V. Hysler, born March 23, 1950, in Jacksonville, Fla., died May 8, 2001, in Van Buren. Romey was a member of the Armed Forces serving in Vietnam. He worked several years as an air traffic controller in Florida before moving to Oklahoma, where he was a auto mechanic supervisor and maintenance engineer. Romey was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes and stepfather, Vance Silver. He is survived by his daughter, Valecia and son, Eric, both residing in Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Bacon of Van Buren; an aunt, Nadine Parker of Florida. Graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. at the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Smith. The family requests donations to St. Edward Mercy Medical Center Hospice, who were all giving and caring in their care of Romey.
