Edward D. Sams, 75, Davisville, died Thursday at his residence.
Sams was retired from Union Carbide Metals in Marietta. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the National guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 15, and a Baptist.
He was born in Wood County, a son of the late Lewis T. Sams and Ellen Wynona Caplinger Sams.
He is survived by his wife, Inella V. Sams of Davisville; three sons, Edward Michael Sams of Waverly, Thomas Eugene Sams of Houston, Texas, and Larry W. Tallman of Vienna; three daughters, Patsy Lee Black of Okeechobee, Fla., Debra Kay Morgan of Parkersburg and Erica Jill Sams of Davisville; three brothers, Lehman W. Sams of California and Howard L. Sams and Blaine E. Sams, both of Parkersburg; four sisters, Katherine Jaggers and Evelyn Springer, both of Parkersburg and Josephine Williams and Donna J. Sams, both of Lubeck; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter,; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Karol Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Lubeck Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. today.
