He was born 20 Jan 1921 in Page County and was a son of the late George and Anna Bennett Fischer.
Mr. Fischer worked at Merck & Co. for 39 years. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Avis O. Comer Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8613 and the Shenandoah Volunteer Rescue Squad.
He was a past master of Ashlar Masonic Lodge 125, president of the Epicurean Club and registrar for Shenandoah Iron Works District.
Mr. Fischer was scoutmaster of Shenandoah Boy Scout Troop 8 and served on the Shenandoah Centennial Commission. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and past president of the church council.
On 26 July 1940, he married Evelene Kite, who survives.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Douglas Fischer of Shenandoah, a daughter, Carol Lee Strickler of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Three brothers, George Fischer of Waynesboro, Allen Fischer of Bowie, Maryland and Glenwood Fischer of Chesapeake and three grandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Wednesday morning, 09 October 1985 at St. Peter's church by the Rev. Mark Briehl.
Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Shenandoah.
