Florence lived in Los Angeles Co., Calif. many years with her husband Christian "Babe" Wilhelm Christensen and her granddaughter, Dutchess Hempstead.
1935, Florence and Christian were living in San Francisco, Calif. Christian was working on the Golden Gate Bridge.
1940 U.S. Census for Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co., CA (4 April):
Florence was living with her sister, Omega Corbett.

Mrs. Florence Hempstead Christensen, a former Utican, died Nov. 25, 1942 in Englewood, Calif., according to word received here by her sister, Mrs. John L. Hall, 1006 Park.
Mrs. Christensen was born in Herkimer, daughter of the late George W. and Mary Louise Hilts. She lived in Utica for a while before moving to the Coast and while here was a member of the Daughters of Union Veterans.
Besides Mrs. Hall, she leaves two sons, Earl and Donald Hempstead, Portland, Ore; three other sisters, Mrs. Omega Corbett, Englewood; Mrs. O.E. House, Mohawk, and Mrs. John W. Roberts, Syracuse; and two brothers, Leonard B. Hilts, Veterans Hospital, Batavia, and George F. Hilts, Grand Rapids, Mich.
