Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Vernon O'Kelly, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Gilkerson was born in Lipan in 1889. He married Evelyn Evens in Higgins in 1922 [sic]. He farmed in Lipscomb County and in Parks Camp before moving to Panhandle in 1921.
A charter member and past president of the Panhandle Alliance club, Mr. Gilkerson operated a dry cleaners in Panhandle for many years. He was also a retired building contractor. He attend the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, R.L. of Panhandle; two sisters, Mrs. D.O. Kretz of Amarillo and Mrs. Edna Adams of Enid, Okla.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Gilkerson's daughter, Mrs. Wilma Cleek, died in Feb. 1980.
Pallbearers will be Charles Smith, John Apel, Elmer Padgett, Tom Dennis, A.J. Weiser and Ralph Randle.
