HILLTOP Della Irene Tankersley, 84, of Hilltop, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Sun, following a long illness.

Born January 22, 1922, at Odd, she was the daughter of the late Nelt and Effie Bolen.

Mrs. Tankersley was a homemaker, and was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Edward Tankersley.

Survivors include her son, David Tankersley, Jr., and wife Loretta of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter, Peggy Burnett and husband Robert of Hilltop; a brother, Earl Bolen and wife Joyce of Lynchburg, Va.; a sister, Tavie Trent and husband Edmund of Lester; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill, with the Rev. Jessie Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Garden, Prosperity.

Friends may call the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service on Monday.

Grandchildren and friends will serve as pallbearers.
