Served alongside his older brother, Fred in the US Army during WWII. Enlisted March 8th of 1943 assigned to Battery C of the 218th Field Artillery attached with the 41st Division as a lineman & forward observer.

Edward was notably decorated the Silver Star Medal for gallantry taken place June 10th of 1944 while in New Guinea & the Purple Heart Medal being wounded during the Battle of Mindoro (March 10th of 1945). Other decorations/awards include the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal w/ 1 arrowhead device 3 campaign bronze stars, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal & the Philippines Liberation Medal with one campaign bronze star. Ranked to Corporal being discharged March 13th of 1946.
