Mrs. Sara Hekel, 71, mother of George Hekel of Dunlap, passed away in her home near Tremont Friday afternoon.
She was born in Princeville April 15, 1885, the daughter of Jacob and Sophia Oertley Streitmatter. She was the last surviving member of the 14 children of the Streitmatter family.
She was married to Karl Hekel September 10, 1902 in Peoria. He survives, with five sons, one daughter and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday in the Apostolic Christian church in Morton and burial was in the A. C. cemetery there.
