J.H. Rubenkoenig, a pioneer citizen of Graham was buried here Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Rubenkoenig was born in New Orleans in 1852 and started in business there while still a very young man. Later, he moved to Shreveport, and after a few years, moved to Graham in 1877. At that time, Graham had a population of 500. He had lived in Graham 48 years at the time of his death. He was a West Texas pioneer in the truest sense of the term and in no small measure helped to make Graham the splendid town it is today.
Survived by his wife; seven children. Three sons - John, Fred and Lewis Rubenkoenig; three daughters - Minnie, Elsie, and Louise Rubenkoenig, live in Graham and Young County. One son - Professor Harry Rubenkoenig of Purdue University, lived in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mr. Rubenkoenig was prominent in the local church and fraternal work; he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Graham and was also a charter member of the Graham Knights of Pythias lodge.

Fred T. Arnold and R.L. Schlittler were acquainted with J.H. Rubenkoenig and his wife, Annie during their lifetime. J.H. Rubenkoenig and Annie had seven adult children.
