Apollos Terry, the son of Isaac Terry, Jr. and Hannah Abbe, was born October 27, 1798 in Sangerfield, Oneida County, New York. His paternal grandparents were Isaac Terry, Sr. and Margaret Downing. His maternal grandparents were John Abbe, Jr. and Sarah Root.

His father Isaac Terry was born on August 15, 1748 in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. His mother Hannah Abbe Terry was born there on March 31, 1753. The family moved to Sangerfield, Onieda County, New York about 1792. That is where his mother died on June 13, 1822 and his father died on December 22, 1824.

Apollos Terry and Hadassa Abby were married on January 28, 1820 in Chenango County, New York. Although they were named as the parents of the following known children, it is likely that there were other children:
Mary Ruth - b. 16 Mar 1823 / d. 18 May 1903
- w/o William Harrison Fuller
Harriet - m. a Gibbs; resided in Aurora, IL
Elbert - b. ca Jan 1821 / d. 21 Sep 1821
Apollos, Jr. - ca Jan 1, 1827 / d. 26 Jul 1928
Elizabeth - b. ca 1828

Apollos and Hadassa (Abby) Terry appear in the 1850 Census of Grayson County, Kentucky. At that time the family consisted of: Apollos, shown as Afrolis Terry, a 53 year old farmer, born in NY; his wife Hadassa, 45, born in NY; their daughter Elizabeth, age 22, born in NY; and Leonard, a 4 year old probable grandson, born in PA. Also living with them was Hadassa's father Thomas Abby, age 87, who was stated incorrectly as being born in NY. He was born in Enfield, Hartford County, Connecticut. Thomas died on August 21, 1855 and was buried on the land where they lived near the Duff Community in Grayson County, Kentucky.

Apollos or Afrolis Terry died there in 1859. He was also buried in this family cemetery. His wife Hadassa joined him there after her death in 1888. Their daughter Mary Ruth Terry Fuller and her husband William Harrison Fuller are also buried in this small cemetery located in the woods about 4 miles north of Duff. Since William Harrison and Mary Ruth (Terry) Fuller and many of their children and grandchildren are buried here, this explains why the cemetery became known as the Fuller Cemetery.
