James A. Ancell, 53, of 637 S. 15th, died at 6:43 p.m. Monday (Jan. 28, 1985) in his home of an apparent heart attack. He had been under a doctor's care.
Mr. Ancell was born Dec. 10, 1931, in Fayette, MO., a son of Lance and Sylvia Ludwig Ancell. He married Norma Reagan July 31, 1954, in St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy. She survivies. Mr. Ancell was an employee of Colt Industries in the stockroom for 22 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the church. He was a member of Machinst Local 822. Mr. Ancell was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing and all Quincy sports. He served in the Air Force for four years.
Also surviving are a son, Warren James Ancell of Dallas, TX; four daughters, Mrs. Pamela Leffers and Mrs. James (Theresa) Werneth, both of Quincy, Mrs. Russell (Sharon) Hill of St. Petersburg, FL; and Mrs. Matthew (Barbara) Murphy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a brother, Earl Ancell of Quincy; two sisters, Mrs. Juanita Nokes of Palmyra, MO, and Mrs. Bertha Hendricks of New Canton; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter and a brother.
Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church by the Rev. Gerald McCaughey. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic School Building Fund.
