Benjamin was the son of William and Sarah (Carrell) Fetter. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Dungan) Fetter. He was the father of three daughters. He was born on the Carrell homestead. It appears that he lived there all of his life, and he also died there. In his younger years he suffered an injury to his knee, which never entirely healed, and for many years he used a crutch or a cane. Despite his handicap he was a successful farmer and businesses man.
