BLACKFOOT, May 19 - Mrs. Nancy Bagley Nelson, 87, Blackfoot resident for more than a half a century, died Sunday night in an Idaho Falls hospital of causes incident to age.
She was born Sept. 5, 1876, at Grantsville, Utah, daughter of pioneer parents, Emanuel and Mary Isabel Pope Bagley. At the age of three the family moved to Castle Dale, Utah, then to Little Basin near Oakley. When she was 13 they moved to Mink Creek, where she met Brigham Young Nelson of Riverdale. They were married March 16, 1893, and for their wedding trip they went to the dedication services of the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City.
They lived in Riverdale, Driggs and Riverside, before moving to Blackfoot, where Mr. Nelson worked in the Utah-Idaho Sugar Factory for 40 years.
After her husband's death in 1955, she continued to live in her own home until an accident three years ago made hospital care necessary. She was an active church and civic worker, helping in the Primary, Sunday School and Relief Socity for many years.
Survivors are two sons and one daughter, Clayton Y. Nelson, Logan, Utah; Emery B. Nelson and Mrs. W.D. (Elva) Christensen, both of Blackfoot; 6 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Samuel Bagley, Victoria, B.C.; Mrs. Alonzo (Sarah) Merservey, Brigham City, Utah, and Mrs. Olvier (Eleanor) Merservey, St. Anthony.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Blackfoot LDS 3rd Ward Chapel by Verl Horrocks of the ward bishopric. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery. Friends may call at the Howard Packham Mortuary until service time.
