Carl Winters, 27, 1333 E. Third St., died at St. Elizabeth Hospital at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 1930, as a result of what police describe as a suicide attempt made Friday in the basement of his home. It is believed he shot himself because of despondency due to unemployment.

The shot fired by Winters entered his abdomen, and his condition was serious when he was admitted to the hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his mother, Mrs. Carrie Winters; and one sister.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the residence. Burial will be made in Maple Hill Cemetery.
