Samuel L. Montgomery, 93 of Payneway, died Wednesday morning at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. A native of Morriston, he moved to Payneway in 1946 from Mississippi County. He was a retired farmer and member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Johnnie Montgomery of Marked Tree; five daughters, Mrs. Reba Noblin of Dyess, Mrs. Wilma Griffin of Payneway, Mrs. Willa Dean Wilson of Elkhart, Ind., Mrs. Nova Gardner of Eudora and Kathy Johnson of Marked Tree; four sons, George Seratt of Lake Village, Stanley Wright of Houston, Texas, J.L. Wright of West Memphis and Delano Montgomery of Marked Tree; 37 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 Friday afternoon at the Liberty Street Church of Christ in Marked Tree with Jerry Noblin, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Marked Tree Cemetery under direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree.
