OBITUARY
Master Samuel Gottlob Scheihing was born December 12, 1901, in Divide Township , Buffalo County, Nebraska and departed this life early Sunday morning March 22, 1914. Age 12 years 3 months and 8 days.
Samuel was ill but a short time. On Friday night, March 20, he was operated on for appendicitis. In the operation he was brave and manly.
He gave his heart and life to Christ in September 1909 and united with the United Evangelical church in the same month. He was a faithful member of the Sunday school and of the Junior Christian Endeavor.
He leaves to mourn his departure a mother, three sisters and three brothers. They do not mourn "as those which have no hope."
The funeral service was held at the church of which he was a member, Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, being in charge of Rev. B. Hillier the pastor, assisted by Rev. J. Holderman. The floral offerings were beautiful and expressed the heart felt sympathy of many kind friends and neighbors.
A mixed quarette sang very beautifully the following selections, "Rock of Ages," "When He Cometh," "Asleep in Jesus," and "Nearer My God to Thee." The body was laid to rest in the Kearney cemetery to await the morning of the Resurrection when "the dead in Christ shall rise first."
