Geraldine 'Jerry' Blacksher, a long time resident of Willow Springs, quietly passed away in the early evening hours Sunday, March 16, 2008, while at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs due to natural causes. Born to Roy and Francis Kirkland in Howards Ridge, Mo., she was 80 years old. Jerry was married to Arthur Blacksher in Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1945. She was co-owner of Blacksher Massey Ferguson Tractor Implement where she proudly worked alongside her husband for many years. She was also a school teacher for a short period of time where she taught school in a one room school house in Bakersfield, Mo. She had many enjoyments in her life which included quilting, sewing, cooking, square dancing, gardening, and fishing. However, she mostly enjoyed spending time with her loving family, especially her grandchildren. She was described by her family as a very generous person who would often help family or friends who needed a helping hand. In fact, she and her husband would often open their home to people who needed a place to stay when down and out. She left a legacy of love which was evident by the love her family has shown for her. She will be greatly missed by family and all who knew her. Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Arthur in June of 1997, her sister Gerrea Hampton, and her son-in-law Richard Hedrick. She is survived by her daughters Judy Anderson and her husband Jack of Lees Summit, Mo., Barbara Cauldwell and her husband Larry of Willow Springs, and Susan Hedrick also of Willow Springs. She also leaves behind her brother, Dallas Ray Kirkland of Howards Ridge, Mo. Six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren further survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Blacksher, will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the First General Baptist Church in Willow Springs with Pastor Scott Williamson and Stasey Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow the funeral services at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona. Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry's name to the Youth Activity Community Center of Willow Springs and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
