SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Henry Marcellus "Barney" Barncord, 85, died Monday, March 5, 2007, in Regency Place of South Bend. Born Nov. 15, 1921, in Cumberland, Md., he was the son of the late David H. and Mary Theresa (Reichert) Barncord. During World War II, Barney served in the Army in the China-Burma-India Theatre. Barney was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Parish and attended SS. Peter & Paul Grade School, Allegany High School and Catherman's Business School. He was an insurance salesman for United Insurance Company of America. He moved to South Bend in 1951, where he continued working as a salesman in the insurance and automotive industries. Barney is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Rosemary Ferrone of Cresaptown; his daughter, Kay Hendrix and her husband Richard of Moreno Valley, Calif.; his son, David F. Barncord and his wife Kim; and three granddaughters, Kristin, Whitney and Anna Barncord, all of South Bend. He is also survived by his sister, C. Maxine Martin of Cumberland; as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. Cumberland (Maryland) Times Obituary
