MRS. AMANDA BROWN DIES AT VERMILION; INVALID 23 YEARS
Mrs. Amanda Forster Brown, widow of Joseph Brown, died at her home 3 miles south of Vermilion, IL, on Sun. morning [8/29/1937]. For 23 years [since about 1914] she had been an invalid.
She was the daughter of James and Nancy Stump Forster and was born 77 years ago [c. 1860] near Vermilion where she had always resided. Her husband, to whom she was married in 1889, passed away in 1914. Two sons were born to the marriage, one of whom, Hershel, is surviving. The other son died in 1911.
There are 2 brothers, Ellsworth and William Forster, both of Vermilion, also 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held from the residence at 3:30 o'clock Tues. afternoon …, with the Rev. C. E. Velander officiating. Interment at Vermilion cemetery. Mrs. Brown had been a member of the Vermilion United Brethren church for many years.
