Earl J. Baker, 92, passed away Sunday, May 31, 1998, at the Clarence Nursing Home in Clarence, after a brief illness.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with Rev. Clive Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.

Earl John Baker was born February 17, 1906, in Cedar County, the son of Mervin and Katherine (Boettcher) Baker. He received his education in the Cedar County schools. He married Mildred Bernice Morgan on February 26, 1931, in Cedar Rapids. Together they farmed in Cedar County, until they retired and moved to Clarence. Mildred preceded him in death on November 1, 1991.

Surviving are one son, Dwaine Baker of Remson; one grandson, David; one great-grandson, Nathan; and three sisters, Gladys Miller and Ethel Park, both of Tipton and Violet Kelley of Wilton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Pearl Hipple and Bertha Baker, one brother, Harry Baker and four brothers-in-law, Everett Miller, Homer Park, Kenneth Kelley and Melvin Baker.
