JAMES MILLS was the son of WILLIAM MILLS and ELIZABETH ABSHIRE MILLS, both of Virginia. Jimmy and Nancy were young when they left Virginia. Eventually settled in Jackson Twp, Elkhart Co., IN; worked a large farm and raised 9 children, of which 3 sons died in the Civil War. Children: Emily(Emma), Mary Ann, Minerva, William, Permelia, Nancy Ann, James Washington, Sara Elizabeth(my gr-grandmother)and Milton. Many MILLS descendants are today living in Elkhart/Goshen area.
