Alice F. Brubaker Portage, Indiana Age 97, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso, surrounded by her family and memories. She was the daughter of Ivol Hansford Quinn and Carrie Irene Hausmann, Quinn. She married George Leroy Brubaker, of Kokomo, Indiana, November 1, 1936 in Mishawaka, Indiana. Mrs. Brubaker was born September 30, 1916 in Cass County, Indiana. She entered school in New Waverly, Indiana. In 1925 the family moved to Peru, Indiana and she graduated from Peru High School in 1933. She earned her Teacher's certificate from Ball State College in 1935 and received her Bachelor's Degree at Ball State University in 1948. She was a member of Retired Teachers of Indiana and proud to be a life member of the American Revolution and a Life member of AAUW. She and her husband enjoyed traveling all the States of the United States and England, Mexico, South America and China. IN 1975 she and her husband moved to Fort Pierce, Florida where she lived for thirty years and she was very active in the city and St. Lucie County. Alice moved to Portage, Indiana on November 1, 2004, where she continued to be active in her community. Alice is survived by her loving family, daughter Mary Jolene Haworth of Peru, Indiana and her son Gary Alan (Josie) Brubaker of Portage, Indiana, four grandchildren; Traci, David (Laura) and Daniel (Jackie) Brubaker and Mark Haworth, and six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Abigail, Emily, Ava Rose, Kristin, Brooklin Brubaker. A funeral service for Alice will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10:00 am with Pastor Dennis Ticen officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana 46368. Burial will take place at Springdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 9:00 am until time of service, also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
