Memorial Service For Richard Doeden

Memorial services were held in St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church here Sunday for Richard Doeden, who died March 4, of wounds received two days before on Iwo Jima. Members of Massie-Richards Post of the American Legion took part in the services.

Richard was born Sept. 8, 1925, near Cook, was baptized the following November 22 and confirmed on April 2, 1939. He was a member of St. John Church. He graduated from high school in Bennet in 1942.

He entered military service January 3, 1944 and was sent overseas August 8, 1944.

He is survived by his parents, Albert and Lerma Marie Doeden; three brothers, Kenneth, Albert Lee and Nicholas; one sister, Marlyce, all of Douglas; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Halm and Mr. and Mrs. August Doeden, and many other relatives and friends. A brother and sister preceded him in death.
