LAMESA (Special)-- Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today for Willis Daniel Downs Sr., 58, longtime Dawson County resident who died at his home here at 4:40 a.m. today. He had been in ill health for several years.
The Rev. J. Roy Haynes, pastor of the Lamesa West Side Baptist Church, and the Rev. Cecil West, Assembly of God pastor here will officiate at the services in Higginbotham Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Lamesa Memorial Park.
Downs was born in Houston County. He moved here 21 years ago. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Willis Jr., Lamesa; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Blakely, Livingstone; Mrs. Mertie Welser, Rosebud; and Mrs. Hattie White, Lott; and a brother, Archie V. Downs, Lott.
