---James Gabriel (Gabe) Stevens, 81, died in Kirksville hospital Sunday afternoon at 2:40 o'clock. He had been in failing health the past four months and seriously ill the past ten days. Funeral services will be conducted at the Davis Funeral Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. James T. McClanahan, pastor of the Hazel Green Holiness Church. Interment will be in the Stukey Cemetery at Millard. Mr. Stevens was the son of Robert and Jennie (Hill) Stevens and was born in Monroe County, Missouri, on March 13, 1864. Mr. Stevens was never married. He is survived by twelve nieces and nephews and was the last of a family of eleven children. He lived on a farm about four miles northeast of Kirksville for 45 years and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Farmers Exchange in Kirksville. The body will lie in state at the Davis Funeral Home.
