Isaac was the son of ABRAHAM CARBAUGH (1790-1847) and ELIZABETH MARTAIN BAKER CARBAUGH (1799-1876). He was the grandson of (JOHN)PETER CARBAUGH (1756-1844): memorial #33002980.

Isaac was married February 19, 1857 in Dearborn County, Indiana to SARAH ANN POWELL who was born May 11, 1838 in Dearborn County, Indiana. She was the daughter of George B. Powell and Frances Bruce Powell. Sarah died January 3, 1870 in Hogan Creek, Dearborn County, Indiana.
They had 4 known daughters: Sarah Elizabeth Carbaugh Kaufman, Susan Jane "Jennie" Carbaugh Backman, Lulu A. Carbaugh Moore, and Mary E. Carbaugh Colwell.

WILMINGTON, INDIANA
Isaac Carbaugh, in the 65th year of his age, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Caldwell (Colwell), in Terre Haute Nov. 20 of heart disease. The remains were brought here Friday and the funeral services were held in the church at 9 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M.W. Roof, of Crozier, assisted by Rev. A.W. Stout, and was largely attended by relatives and friends. Mr. Carbaugh was highly respected and liked by all. The interment was in Wilmington cemetery. He was a brother of Mrs. John Buffington of this place.
