Hubert Allen Tillman, 99, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Ripley, Visitation was held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Garner Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 1 p.m. in Garner Funeral Home chapel. Burial followed in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley. Garner Funeral Home had charge of the services. Tillman was born on Nov. 14, 1908 to George and Emma Caldwell Tillman. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Annie Mae Parker Tillman, his parents, three sisters and one brother. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Doris Tillman of Halls; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Jones of Cordova; five grandchildren, JoAnne and Ned Lewis, David and Lynn Tillman, and Benjamin Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Grace Tillman and Ben Lewis. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and his Asbury Cove family. "Grand-daddy as he was known to all his family and many friends, owned and operated Tillman's Grocery at Flippin for over 30 years, during which time he was also a rural mail carrier. He was a strong believer and a great man to all and loved by many and will be missed greatly by everyone.
