"A Mason county resident who was born and raised here, Roy Olif Bowman, 54, died September 10 at a local hospital. He made his home at Route 2, Box 303, Shelton.
The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. September 13 from Witsiers Funeral Home with the Reverend J. O. Bovee in charge. Mrs. Loni Larson sang.
Mr. Bowman was born in Shelton on February 13, 1895. He had worked in the community as a boomman, and had been employed by Simpson Logging Company. He served in the Army during World War I.
He leaves two sons, Donald and Roy, Jr., both of Shelton; two brothers, Herbert and Albert Bowman, both of Shelton; a sister, Mrs. Madeline Mell of Shelton, and two grandchildren, Lois Jean and LeRoy Bowman of Shelton."

Suggested edit: Hello - I submitted a change for this man's middle name. I believe that the obit has the middle name wrong because the father's middle name was "Olaf"...

Comment: This edit may be correct, but I can find no "good" data to either support or deny suggestion. His WWII draft registration reads Roy Olof Bowman, his application for a military headstone reads Roy Olaf Bowman, which entry has been crossed off, his Washington death certificate reads Roy Olif Bowman. Other records have only a middle initial.
Two online family trees list him as Roy Olif Bowman.
