Kenneth was born March 5, 1919 and grew up on the Goplerud farm south of Otranto, Iowa. he attended and graduated from Otranto school in 1936. After graduation he joined his father in the farming operation, raising cabbage, potatoes, row crops and livestock. Kenneth enjoyed farming with the work horses and could still remember all of their names.
Kenneth enjoyed antique auctions, fishing, music and singing. His family treasures his hand carved Santas, Norwegian horses and fish decoys. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren fondly remember Grandpa's stories, the birthday parades, and his wonderful sense of humor, and Grandpa loved and was very proud of all of them.
Kenneth was a life-long member of the Lutheran church, was proud to be called a Norwegian, strived to be a good farmer and had a preference for John Deere equipment. Kenneth served on the Otranto School Board, the Deer Creek church counsel and was active in the community.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Christopher G. Goplerud and Theodora B. Goplerud; his first wife and mother of his children Marian (Voit) Goplerud; sister Elfrieda Uzlik; grandson Mark Steiert and step-son Michael Schorr.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Beatrice (Betty) Goplerud of Osage, IA; his daughter Linda (Jackson) Steiert of Osage, IA; his son David (Judy) of St. Ansgar, IA; his son John (Sharon) Goplerud of Park Rapids, MN; his step-son John (Phijitra) Schorr of Deland, FL; his grandchildren Greg (Kaye) Goplerud and family Kaitlyn and Hannah of St. Ansgar, Kari (Russ) Nelson and family Jordan and Gayle of St. Ansgar; Mary (Darwin) McKeen and family Cara and Brittney of Minnetonka, MN; John (Victoria) Steiert and family Hunter and Kendra of Osage,IA; Christopher (Dee) Goplerud and family Chris and Kyle of Park Rapids, MN; step-granddaughters Jenny (Sam) Khichi and family Kiertan and Nathan of Westfield, NJ; Anne Schorr of Chicago, IL; and nephew Michael Uzlik of Lake City, FL.
