SWEETSER Burr Nelson, 73, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ at 4:22 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010 surrounded by his family in his home.

He was born March 12, 1937 in Helmet, California to the late Earl and Sarah (Jeffers) Nelson. He married Rebecca Myers on June 15, 1979 and she survives.

Burr was a 1955 graduate of Marion High School. He was a foreman at the Marion Malleable, worked at Anaconda, Dalton Foundry, and retired from Hartson-Kennedy. He was co-owner of Marion Dolly Trucks with his brother-in-law and best friend, Ron Shaffer.

He enjoyed the outdoors, bowling, gardening and wood working. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids by the swimming pool. He and Becky were known for their outdoor Christmas display while living near Swayzee. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, and NASCAR. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Sweetser.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Nelson, Sweetser; daughters, Teresa (Ken) Sites, Swayzee, Della (Joe) Greentree, Pt. Isabel, Susan (Mark) Artherhults, Marion, Sally (Mark Chappell) Fear, Indianapolis; son, Mark (Nick Paternostro) Nelson, Ashland, Mass.; grandchildren, Chad (Jenny) Artherhults, Marion, Aja Fear, Indianapolis, Tara (David) Stewart, Marion, Joe Isaac Greentree, Gladstone, Mo., Samantha (Mike) Stevens, Swayzee; great grandchildren, Timothy Inman, Marion, Connor Stewart, Marion, Burr Nelson Greentree, Gladstone, Mo.; sister, Jo Ann (Ron) Shaffer, Marion.

Burr was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Belle (McKinney) Nelson; sons, Burr Nelson and Steven Nelson; daughter, Kim Nelson; and sister, Nora Jane Grenier.

Funeral services will be at 11a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN with the Reverend Terry Bishir officiating. Burial is in Thrailkill Cemetery, Swayzee.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 in the funeral home.
