Civil war veteran, Co. I, 134th PVI, Company I, recruited in Beaver County, mustered into service Aug 19, 1862 for a term a 9 months, mustered out with company May 26, 1863.

Obituary: Funeranl services for George W. Powell, veteran of the civil war and well know blacksmiths of New Brighton, were held from the late home, 171 Font St., Fallston at 2:30 yesterday afternoon, with the Rev. Mr. Sumwalt, of the First M.E. church, Beaver Falls, officiating. The pallbearers were all nephews of the descedent and were: George Denis, L.G. Rhodes, George Powell, Ira Powell, Mr. Brobong, and M.D. Rhodes. Burial was in Grove cemetery, Jospeh J. Spratt and Bro, funeral directors and charges.
