Mr. J.A. Raines had come into the area and bought land adjoining the church property in the east. Mr. and Mrs. Raines with their two oldest children, Ella and Minnie, joined the Presbyterian Church July 30, 1894. Mr. Raines was voted an Elder and Ella was voted church clerk. Later she became Mrs. Jim Burns and Minnie became the wife of Edgar Ligon Butler, youngest child of James T and Eveline Cerfrona MANN Butler.
In 1901, negotiations had reached a point of doing something to get the public road designated, and yet save their church property. Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Raines deeded land on the east and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Brown deeded land on the south, adjoining the church and cemetery. The Raines deed stipulates "sold for one dollar hand", recorded the 1st day of June 1904 at 2:50 o'clock P.M. Book 50 Page 538.
