David Arthur Forrest, merchant and resident of Winnfield for the past 21 years, was claimed by death Thursday, March 25, following a short illness.

Mr. Forrest was a native of Rapides Parish, where he was born August 18, 1891. After coming to Winnfield he identified himself with church and civic groups and at one time was executive secretary of the Winn Parish Draft Board.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, March 27, at 10:00 o'clock at the First Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. L. L. Booth, pastor, and under the direction of Hixson's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers serving included Dudley Shell, James Russell, Jr., J. W. Wroten, W. L. Kirkpatrick, Max Crowe, and Hiram Wright. Honorary pallbearers were Stewards of the First Methodist Church and friends.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Laura Forrest, one daughter, Mrs. Polly Harris of Shreveport, and one son, Newton Forrest of Winnfield; four brothers, J. M. Forrest, Boyce, Antham [sic Willie W. Forrest], Monroe, J. E. Forrest, Mobile, Ala., and George Forrest, Baytown, Texas; two [sic three] sisters, Mrs. Charles Franklin, Baytown, Texas, [Mrs. Mary Worley, Fresno, Ca.] and Mrs. Ambrose Baske [sic Basco], Delhi, La.
