Mr. Francis Barnes Auman, 74, died Feb. 28, 2004, at High Point Regional Hospital. Mr. Auman was born April 16, 1929, a son to W.W. and Callie Barnes Auman. A resident of this area most of his life, he was a member of Fairfield United Methodist Church. While at the church, he was a charter member of the Men's Club, former member of the Fairfield Quartet, former choir director and had taught the Wesleyan Fellowship Sunday School Class for many years. He was retired from Jefferson Pilot after 35 years of service and was also a member of the Choraliers there. In 1950 he married the former Laura Gaddy who survives of the home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Wid Auman. Also surviving are three children; Keith Auman and wife, Debi, of High Point, Kyle Auman and wife, Janet, of Jamestown and Kay Auman Rockhold of High Point; three brothers, Vernon Auman and wife, Helen, of High Point, June Auman and wife, Joyce, of Asheboro and Wiley Auman and wife, Barbara, of Jamestown; four grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Abbie and Laura and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barry Lemons officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, and other times at the residence. Memorials may be directed to the Fairfield Choir or to Fairfield Recreation Ministries. Both addresses are 1505 N.C. 62 West, 27263.
