My grandmother Warner, better known as 'Maggie,' or MLW, was born to John Wallace Love and Margaret Ann O'Regan in Sugar Notch, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Her father was a school teacher and imparted a love of words, reading and writing at an early age. Maggie wrote poetry and short stories and was a member of the Altoona,Blair,PA Story League for several years.
She lived in Panama with husband Albert/A.E. Warner and their two children Bernard and Loretto in the late 1915's, before returning to Altoona, PA, where son John W. was born. They resided at 2512 Pleasant Valley Blvd. until her beloved Albert's death in 1951. Albert had been a building contractor in the Altoona, Blair County area of Pennsylvania. Their oldest son Bernard lived next door and ran a well known & respected gun shop at the rear of the property. Youngest son John was an Architect, residing in different parts of Pennsylvania for his work. Years later Maggie relocated to Pacific Grove to live with her daughter, Loretto McNeal and her husband, Frank G. McNeal. They moved to 1013 Rosita Road, Del Rey Oaks (Monterey), CA in 1964, living there until her death in 1971.
Maggie was active in the St. Angelas Catholic Church of Paific Grove and St. Thomas Aquinas of the Naval Postgraduate School where Loretto was on the Chapel Guild.
Maggie donated many hours helping the handicapped adult group of the New Monterey Neighborhood Center, making her ever requested Spanish Rice casserole for their potlucks. She was good friends with the Kerns and Bridler families and went to the center even after moving to Del Rey Oaks, thanks to the driver who'd pick her up each week.
She enjoyed living in households with many of her grandchildren in PA and CA, then her great grandchildren in Monterey area. She spent many hours sitting in the sunshine with her special pal, Tawny - her daughter Loretto's yellow tiger cat. She loved the ocean views from the house on Lighthouse Avenue. She was buried in Monterey with her beloved daughter Loretto laid next to her upon her death in 1991.
