WEST, MATTIE BLEVINS MARION -- Mrs. Mattie Blevins West, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at home. She was the youngest of 12 children born in Grayson County, Va., to Clayborne M. and Luticia Phipps Weaver. She had resided in Marion since 1942. She was an active member of Marion Baptist Church, was retired from Harwood Manufacturing Co. after 35 years of service, was an active member of I.L.G.W. and was a member of the Marion Life Saving Crew Auxiliary, having served as chaplain. Mrs. West was preceded in death by her two husbands, Garfield Blevins and Roscoe West. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Charlie Testerman of Wytheville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph D. and Connie R. Blevins, Dennis and Marie Blevins, and Rex and Betty Blevins, all of Marion. Services will be held Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Revs. Mark Ross and Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is serving the West Family. BRISTOL HERALD COURIER NOV. 25, 2001
