Bennie Conover, age 85, formerly of 348 Oak Grove Road, Columbia, passed away at 10:30 a.m. at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, after several months illness. He was the son of the late Edward Nell and Fannie Atchley Conover of Adair County.

Mr. Conover is survived by his wife, Bertha Bryant Conover of Columbia; one son and daughter-in-law, Herman Ray and Betty Conover of Columbia; five daughters, Evalena England and her husband Carlos of Louisville, Donetta Campbell and her husband Donald of Columbia, Glenda Sue Hoover of Columbia, Miladean Cox of Edinburgh, Indiana, and Mary Ann Collins and her husband Kerry of Columbia; one sister, Faye Blankenship of Russell Springs; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Dencil Hoover in August 1995 and Eddie Cox in April 2000. Mr. Conover was a retired farmer.

Funeral service was Saturday, May 13, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Richards officiating. Interment in the Conover Cemetery. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements. Pallbearers were Barry Bardin, Curt Burton, Jeff Burton, Chad Collins, Michael Collins, Chris Conover, Chuck Coomer, and Dwayne Cox.
