Rueluff married Ethel Jordan, who hailed from Marion, Ohio, on October 3, 1908. They set up housekeeping in Denver. Rueluff was later employed by the Denver Tramway Company as an engineer. Rueluff and Ethel raised seven children. All of Rueluff's sons served in the US military. He continued with the company until his accidental death in 1945.
