Richard (also written as Randolf), was the first born son of Floyd J. (sometimes spelled Floid) and Mary Jane (Deffenbaugh - spelling varies) Spriggs.
Richard was born in Keyser, Mineral County, West Virginia.
His middle name Randolph is after his paternal grandfather, Mr Randolph Sprigg. For some reason the surname Sprigg became Spriggs with Richard and his siblings. It has been Spriggs from then on. Not sure the reason for this variation taking hold.
Richard had several siblings: Pansey Rebecca, Charles H., my great grandmother Eula R., Newton P. (who only appears in one census when just a year old), Floyd Jr (who died as an infant), Albert and Carl.
Richard later moved to Ohio. He married May - maiden name unknown at this time. In Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, he worked as a baker for a confectory company.
He died in August 1957, the location is unknown at this time. Richard is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland.
