Obituary - Dorothy Ruth Adams, 85, of Blackfoot, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
She was born October 19, 1924 in Shelley, Idaho, to Ephraim Franklin and Leah Elizabeth Jensen Hanks. She was raised and attended school in Shelley, graduating from Shelley High School.
On February 22, 1946 she married Duane K. Adams in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. They made their home in Blackfoot and have resided here since. Duane preceded her in death on April 23, 2001.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and fulfilled calling in most of the auxiliaries of the church.
During her work career she worked at the Colonial Inn, Riverside Cleaners, and Basic American Foods.
Dorothy always put her family first and helped them whenever needed in tough times.
She was a great caregiver and put her life on hold to care for her husband and son.
Dorothy enjoyed golf, bowling, and reading. She especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children: Jacqueline "Jackie" Babcock, of Blackfoot, Maurice D.(Colleen) Adams, of Spearfish, South Dakota, and Dorothy Jeanne (Gordon) Wagner, of Spokane, WA; two brothers, Grant Hanks, of Meridian, ID, Reed Hanks, of Oceanside, CA; one sister, Barbara (Doyle) Arave, of Idaho Falls, ID; eleven grandchildren, twelve greatgrandchildren, and numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, one son, Morgan H. Adams, one sonin-law, Dan Babcock, her parents, two brothers, Lynn and Vic, and four sisters, Lucille, Venice, Viola, and Mildred.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Blackfoot 11th Ward Chapel, 520 N. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, ID with Bishop Mike Inskeep conducting. The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 at Hawker Funeral Home, and again for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
