Mrs. Ida Marie (Adolphson) Springer, Abingdon Chapel 82, of Pekin and formerly of St. Augustine, died at 7:07 pm Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on April 12, 1928 near Yates City to Carl and Anna Victoria (Johnson) Adolphson. She married Keith A. Springer on March 6, 1953 in Colchester.
Ida is survived by her husband, Keith; three sons, Rev. Allan (and Lori) Springer of Shelbyville, Indiana, Tom (and Leia) Springer of Pekin and Roger (and Connie) Springer of Middlegrove; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leroy (and Lucille) Adophson of Knoxville and Raymond (and Connie) Adolphson of Avon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Brian, and two brothers John and Ernest.
She graduated from Avon High School in 1946. She later attended Carl Sandburg College Nursing Program and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at the Abingdon Nursing Home and later at the Avon Nursing Home. She had lived in St. Augustine from 1954 until 2007, and then she moved to Pekin. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Knoxville. Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting and going to area auctions.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with a Christian prayer service at 7:00 pm led by Rev. Michel Clark. Cremation will be accorded following the prayer service. Private family burial of her ashes will be in the Abingdon Cemetery at a later date.
