Arnold Ivory Coake. age 79, of Pulaski, died Friday, January 5, 2001, in the VA Hospital in Salem.
He was born in Austinville, the son of the late Floyd L. and Nancy Hill Coake and was a member of the Community Christian Church in Newbern.
He was retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a son Nelson Clay Coake; a daughter, Wanda Coake Stevic; a brother, Homer Coake; and a sister-in-law. Cassie Coake.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Nichols Coake of the home; a step-son and spouse, James. Everett Lynskey of Hampton; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Mabe of Thompson, Ohio, Mary Lima of Clearwater. Fla., Irene Barrett of Max Meadows and Kathryn Barr of Triangle. Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law. Rev. Raymond M. Coake of Dublin and Kensey Coake of Roanoke special friends and several nieces and nephews; four grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral service was today at 11 a.m. at the Community Christian Church in Newbern with the Rev Clyde George, the Rev. Jerry Long and the Rev. Raymond Coake officiating. Interment followed in the Old Dublin Cemetery. The family received friends at the Community Christian Church in Newbern from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday evening or at the residence at any time. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Community Christian Church Building Fund in Newbern. Arrangements by Reese Funeral Home in Austinville.
