Gideon Carr Cunningham

No one knows where Gideon is buried, whether in Dickson County, TN, or Trigg County, Ky. His name is on the Cunningham Monument in Trigg Furnace Cemetery, but it is unknown for sure if he is buried there.

Gideon was given the name of his maternal grandfather, Gideon Carr. Gideon Carr Cunningham was twenty years old when he came to Trigg county, Ky. Albemarle Co Va was thickly populated at this time, and this twenty year old boy must have missed his young friends. After his father, Wm Cunningham, passed away (his mother was living) he went to Dickson Co, Tn and married Harriett Tidwell of Dickson Co. Their oldest child, Andrew was born in 1828, two years before Nancy Carr Cunningham died. The 1850 census record of Dickson Co Tn shows that Gideon age 57, born in Va; his wife, Harriet age 46 born in Tn
living in this county.
